Personal Injury
“Advocacy is the cornerstone of an attorney’s existence. Tenacity shapes an attorney’s arguments to win your case.” Nelson Fraley
Nelson has dedicated his entire legal career to advocating for justice, especially in the area of personal injury. He began as an insurance defense attorney, gaining valuable insights into how insurers approach cases. That perspective has since fueled his effectiveness as a plaintiff’s attorney, advocating tirelessly for individuals harmed by negligence or injustice.
Since entering private practice in 1998 with the firm Phillips & Webster, Nelson has handled a wide range of cases, developing deep trial experience under the mentorship of R. Glenn Phillips and KC Webster. In 1999, he returned to Tacoma to join McCormick Hoffman, a firm with a legacy dating back to 1950. Over the years, it evolved into what is now the Alliance Law Group. With these deep community roots, Nelson became a trusted and valuable counsel to his clients.
As a seasoned trial attorney, he has successfully litigated, mediated, and arbitrated cases resulting in millions of dollars in compensation for his clients. His approach is focused, strategic, and client-centered—working “smarter, not meaner or louder.”

Philosophy and Practice Style
Inspired by legal pioneer Charles Houston—“I made up my mind that if I got through this war I would study law and use my time fighting for those who could not strike back”—Nelson views the law as both a shield and a sword for those in need of justice.
With a deep understanding of legal nuance, Nelson has represented thousands of clients in cases involving serious injuries, wrongful deaths, and workplace injustice. His driving force remains the same: to defend the rights of individuals and ensure that legal violations do not go unanswered.
Beyond the Courtroom
“Anything is possible.” — Unknown
Outside of his legal practice, Nelson channels his focus and endurance into the sport of triathlon. A former high school and collegiate track athlete, he has completed:
- 5 full Ironman triathlons (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, 26.2-mile run)
- 5 Ironman 70.3 events
- Numerous Olympic and Sprint distance races
While swimming and cycling haven’t come naturally, Nelson’s commitment and perseverance have propelled him across every finish line—values he brings into his daily legal practice.
